Suzlon Energy, a manufacturer of wind turbines, is establishing its first production plant in Brazil, in an effort to give more importance on emerging economies. With a yearly capacity of 400 MW, this plant will produce 2 MW turbines. The cost of establishing this plant could be around $10 million.
So far, Suzlon Energy has serviced contracts to the extent of 400 MW capacity in Brazil. The company claims to be the leading player in the Brazilian market by importing wind turbines from India. The wind energy market size in Brazil is expected to be around 1,000 MW capacity.
With developed economies such as the U.S. and other European countries that still have not completely recovered from the economic downturn, Suzlon Energy intends to enter into markets such as Mexico, Chile, Argentina, South Africa, China and India.
