Kalahari Greentech Inc has showcased the benefits of the company’s Solar Tri-Brid system. As per the U.S. DoE (Department of Energy), the usage of average household energy in 2008 was 920 kWh on a monthly basis. A single Solar Tri-Brid system will be able to meet the majority energy requirements of an average U.S. home.
The average cost of a conventional photovoltaic solar installation amounts to $10,000 per every kW capacity, whereas the cost of the Kalahari Tri-Brid system works out to half that price, for the same quantity of power. The return on investment (ROI) is also twice the dollar amount that is spent on a photovoltaic system.
With an estimated $6,000 retail price, the current incentives will bring down the cost of the Kalahari Tri-Brid system to $4,000. If the system is used only for the purpose of electric power generation, the system will be paying for itself over a three-year period. The trend towards using renewable energy sources has been growing. In 2009, renewable energy accounted for 60% of the newly installed capacities in Europe while they accounted for over 50% in the U.S.
