Turkey Looking for Partners to Venture into Geothermal Power Projects

A community neighborhood of a small town in Western Turkey with its abundant geothermal resources is looking for partners to enter into license and commercial agreements with offerings for technical support besides agreements for joint venture or technical collaboration feasibilities for the development of a geothermal project in the location,

The country situated over the Mediterranean volcanic area has a number of geothermal fields in the area. Currently, the country produces approximately 28 MW electric power utilizing an estimated 31,500 thermal Kw (Tmw) of geothermal power. The country is also in the process of constructing a 45 MW geothermal power station. The geothermal potential of the country is estimated to be around $50 billion and the country has already provided geothermal energy to heat around 125,000 homes in the country and planning to increase the number to 1.5 million in a long-term process. The newly enacted laws in the country for alternative energy sources make it binding for the Turkish companies to include a renowned international company as its partner.

A number of companies all over the world who are aware of Turkey’s geothermal energy potential are planning to open their business in Turkey. A recent announcement in the European Geothermal Energy Council website mentions about a Swiss company with three valid licenses for geothermal exploration which is in the process of forming joint ventures with suitable partners.
