Montana DEQ Issues Grant of $1 Million Towards Renewable Energy Projects

The DEQ, or the Montana Department of Environmental Quality, has issued $1 million towards grants for projects to four companies which will further the marketability and development of the renewable energy technologies throughout the state of Montana. The funding for the grants is done with the federal recovery dollars.

In this regard, CORE Wind Power has been awarded $500,000 towards developing a 3-MW wind turbine for construction in Ronan. Algae Aqua Culture Technologies has been awarded $350,000 towards developing an algae greenhouse on the commercial scale for generating organic fertilizer from waste wood chips in the vicinity of Columbia Falls. Opportunity Link has been awarded $125,000 towards developing railroad markets in biodiesel. Earl Fisher has been awarded $25,000 towards providing the capacity for efficient oilseed crushing.

The Montana State is enabled with richness in terms of providing alternative energy potential. The grants issued by the DEQ will only further enhance the process of moving these projects from the planning stage to the production stage.
