XEMC Group, the China-based company that purchased the Dutch wind turbine manufacturer Darwind BV in 2009, is considering to establish a production base valued at $148 million (£95 million) in Northern Ireland.
The wind-energy unit of this group, called the XEMC Darwind BV, is currently exploring the possibilities of establishing its wind turbine blade factory and assembly plant in this location.
XEMC Darwind BV’s local distribution and marketing partner is Titan Energy Associates which has mentioned that XEMC Darwind might be locating its European blade factory and turbine assembly plant in the U.K. XEMC Group, which has the capacity to produce 1,000 wind turbines every year in its Chinese facilities, has also been mulling over the locations in Holland and Republic of Ireland for two of its wind plants.
XEMC Group is developing machines for its wind projects, a 2.5-MW capacity machine for its onshore wind farms and a 5-MW version for its offshore wind farms. After a feasibility study for three months, XEMC Group will be choosing the location for making wind turbines. Under this new project, XEMC Group aims at making 200 wind turbines annually while creating 600 clean jobs by the year 2016.
