LDK Solar Completes Expansion of Vertical Manufacturing

LDK Solar Co., Ltd., a multicrystalline solar PV and wafers manufacturer, has successfully completed the expansion of its vertical manufacturing by finishing the trial runs and installation of its first solar cells production line at its recently installed production plant in Xinyu City, China.

Presently, the novel solar cell production line has 60 MW annual capacity and is likely to touch 120 MW capacity by the close of Q3 of 2010. One of the company’s in-house cell production objectives is to generate around 50% of its module manufacturing requirements, thereby decreasing the cost of its modules. The new solar cell production plant helps in advancing this strategy.
