Conergy Completes Agreement for Solar Plant in Greece

The Conergy Group, a company based in Hamburg, is presently constructing the largest solar park in Greece. The company has finalized a 32-MW framework contract for constructing 20 solar power plant facilities.

The Conergy Group will equip the power plants with its Conergy system technology namely Conergy mounting systems, Conergy IPG inverters and Conergy PowerPlus modules.

As the general contractor for the parks, the Conergy Group will commence construction work by Q2 of 2011. Construction on the parks is likely to go on for duration of 18 months, after which the solar farms will be grid-connected.

Solar energy is very lucrative in Greece as the government provides high incentives. Based on the size of the plant, investors obtain anywhere between €0.45 – 0.50 for every kWh meant for their solar energy plants. Greece intends to promote solar energy in an effort to increase the renewable energies share in total energy usage to around 18% by 2020. The nation hopes to increase its installed solar capacity by 40 times by the year 2030.
