Main Street Power to Erect Solar Energy Systems in Denver

Main Street Power Company, Inc. has commenced construction work on 2.8 MW capacity of distributed solar PV systems on 35 facilities for the Colorado Department of Corrections and Pueblo County, the City and County of Denver and Denver Public Schools. Main Street Power will operate, own and install these solar systems.

These solar projects are likely to remove around 61,020 tons of carbon dioxide over the life term of the project, equal to eliminating 5,830,000 vehicle miles from the road every year. Main Street Power is likely to provide hands-on experience by means of a solar training program meant for local residents especially among low-income communities.

Main Street Power has arranged financing for these projects by means of a mix of New Markets Tax Credits (NMTC) as well as numerous utility, state and federal incentives. The NMTCs will not only assist the Department of Corrections and Pueblo County and Denver Public Schools reduce their energy expenses, but will support creation of new jobs.
