Enel Green Power Receives Contracts for Wind Energy Projects in Brazil

Enel Green Power, a company dedicated to operating and developing renewable resources in Italy, has received 90 MW capacity of contracts for promoting wind power in Brazil. The wind energy projects will be conducted in Bahia, Brazil.

This contract was offered by means of an auction by which only 528 MW capacity among the overall 7,000 MW authorized were awarded. With an installed output of 30 MW capacity each, Sao Judas, Primavera and Cristal, which are the names of these Enel Green Power projects, will have the capability of producing more than 390,000 MWh of energy annually, equivalent to the usage of approximately 245,000 homes in Brail and avoiding around 270,000 tons of carbon dioxide into the atmosphere.

Enel Green Power has the exclusive right to ink an agreement for 20 years for selling the electrical energy produced by the power plants by means of the Chamber of Electrical Energy Commercialization of Brazil. The three wind parks are likely to commence operation by the latter half of 2013. The new facilities will facilitate Enel Green Power to increase its installed capacity by two fold in Brazil.
