Ecotricity Persists with Plan to Construct Alveston Wind Farm

Ecotricity, a green energy company, is carrying on with its plan to construct a wind farm in Alveston. The company has made this announcement after rumours that wind performance on that site was not ideal and the company was considering to move to another location. Nevertheless, Ecotricity has clarified this issue and is pursuing with its plan for the Alveston wind farm.

In December 2008, South Gloucestershire Council gave planning permission to Ecotricity for constructing three wind turbines each 100 meters high in Alveston. A wind monitoring mast was installed by Ecotricity for 18 months for collecting information about wind speeds. The company had removed the mast this summer.

These three wind turbines, which will be built in South Gloucestershire, are anticipated to produce around to 16.75 GWh of electricity annually, sufficient to power 5,000 homes, which equals to 5% of the homes situated in South Gloucestershire.
