Philippines About to Realize Hydro Power Plant in ComVal

Philippines is about to realize its dream of having a hydro power plant at the ComVal (Compostela Valley) location. The Department of Trade and Industry’s (DTI-ComVal) ComVal office has expressed its interest towards establishing a 30-MW power plant for hydro-electricity generation.

Nelly L. Esperanza, the Project Manager of DTI-ComVal, has made the confirmation that Hedcor, Inc. will be constructing a hydro power plant in Maragusan and New Bataan along side the Agusan River. Hedcor, a renewable energy producer, is the biggest developer of hydroelectricity in the Philippines. The Provincial SMED (Small and Medium Enterprise Development) Council of ComVal has passed a resolution towards exploring the possibility of the hydropower facility. The project is anticipated to employ approximately 1,000 people during the phase of construction.

In coordination with the NERBAC (National Economic Research and Business Action Center) and the BoI (Board of Investments), Hedcor is looking at the prospects towards investing in the ComVal hydro power plant.
