UBA to Head Research in Biofuel Jatropha Cultivation

UBA (United Biofuels of America) along with Agronegocios Costa Rica para el mundo have together carried out a research alliance towards developing agronomic models in cultivating Jatropha curcas-tempate.

This important collaboration will have different farm agronomic models for monitoring and research for producing an economical and technical model production that is environmentally sustainable.

The topmost constraint in producing biodiesel from the curcas of Jatropha is the obvious lack of knowledge towards agricultural practices in the plantation of the Jatropha seeds. The Jatropha plant has its nativity in Central America, with drought condition adaptability, high hardiness as well as low incidence in terms of pests.

Thus, the focus is towards cultivating Jatropha for biofuel production with increased productivity using technologically-driven packages. The UBA is a leader in the innovation, development and research processes in the biofuels industry with Jatropha curcas cultivation as the main research goal with the aid of the latest technology packages.
