California Energy Commission Approves Abengoa Mojave Solar Project

The CEC (California Energy Commission) has approved the Abengoa Mojave Solar project’s construction. CEC adopted the PMPD (presiding member’s proposed decision) that recommended the licensing of this 250-MW solar facility that is planned in the location of San Bernardino County. Mojave Solar LLC, an Abengoa Solar Inc. subsidiary, is currently making proposal for this solar project.

The facility will not have much impact on the environment while complying with the applicable laws, standards, regulations and ordinances. Construction on the solar project is likely to commence by Q4 of 2010 with commercial service scheduled for 2013 first quarter.

The PMPD was completely based on the fact records that were finalized during the certification proceeding of the facility. The Abengoa Mojave Solar project falls under nine other projects. If approved, the nine projects would generate over 4,300 MW of clean energy.
