Trony Solar to Develop Amorphous Silicon and Microcrystalline Tandem Solar Battery

Trony Solar Holdings Company Limited, a globally known thin film photovoltaic module manufacturing company, has declared the opening of its Hong Kong office located in Hong Kong Science & Technology Parks.

The company located in the technology park has plans to enlarge the ambit of solar power usage through collaboration with companies engaged in similar technologies. The tenancy in the park will make the company eligible to utilize the laboratory facilities available in the park to enhance the technologies of its products and in turn its solar power market in Hong Kong.

During the opening of its office the company had signed individual agreements with Hong Kong University of Science and Technology and Hong Kong Polytechnic University for joint development of solar battery know-how. It will join with the Polytechnic in a development project funded by Guangdong-Hong Kong Technology Co-operation Funding Scheme for the development of amorphous silicon PV solar modules and amorphous-microcrystalline tandem solar battery for PV power production. The company is planning to carry out research in the development of solar technology with the University of Science and Technology under the model supported by the "Shenzhen/Hong Kong Innovation Circle" The Company is planning to provide subsidies for both the projects.

Mr. Li Yi, Trony’s Chairman and CEO, said that his company is in collaboration with a number of universities and educational institutions located in China and Hong Kong for continuing research in the development of solar technology. He further said that the company’s joint work with the Polytechnic and the University is a continuing research process to increase the efficiency of thin film solar modules and in the development of solar batteries with higher level of storing efficiency.
