SAIC Receives $22 Million Agreement for Geothermal Plant

SAIC (Science Applications International Corporation) has received a $22-million contract towards the construction of a geothermal power plant in northwest Nevada called as the San Emidio geothermal project. The contract has been awarded to SAIC by the company USG Nevada LLC that happens to be U.S. Geothermal Inc’s subsidiary.

For the first phase of this San Emidio project, USG Nevada will be providing construction, procurement and engineering services. This contract has a performance time period of 15 months and a contract value in excess of $22 million. Work will be executed by The Benham Companies LLC, a subsidiary of SAIC which will also be providing for the construction costs by way of a project loan.

Geothermal energy has been classified as a clean, renewable electricity source while also being classified as a sustainable, environmentally-friendly method for electrical power generation. Geothermal plants are generally designed for running continuously round the clock with no emissions and as there is no burning of fuel, the energy production is naturally clean as well as renewable.
