GE Opens Service Centers for Wind Turbines in Albert Lea and Pipestone

GE, a company that serves the renewable energy sector, has declared the opening of its two wind turbine repair centers in Pipestone and Albert Lea, in Minnesota and announced its plans to open such centers in other states in the region. The two centers will function as headquarters for the company with qualified wind turbine technicians to provide a system for increased support and know-how to meet the requirements of the customers.

The GE’s Pipestone, Minnesota office opened during December 2009, provides client services to 573 GE 1.5 MW wind turbines while the Albert Lea, which had started its operations during the early part of this year provides services to wind turbine generators numbering 507. The company has announced its plans to open one more service center in Iowa to support 571-1.5 MW wind turbine installed in the nearby location. The regional service centers will function in the same way like that of its existing service center located in Sweetwater Texas. The service centers are designed to offer the clients with performance guarantees, turbine upgrades and operation and repair services.

Diarmaid Mulholland, GE Power & Water’s General Manager for Wind Services, said that the area with adequate wind resources and land availability provides good scope for wind energy development. He added the newly introduced center will enable the company to offer a wide variety of services to the clients by pooling its resources, tools and supervision support in a single place.
