CEC Approves Solar Array Construction on Eastern Riverside County

The CEC (California Energy Commission) has approved a plan recently towards building the world’s largest solar array in the location of Eastern Riverside County. Thus, this gigantic solar array project is nearing its final stages of approvals and formalities before the commencement of construction.

The construction of this solar project is expected to begin before the end of 2010. Though the CEC’s approval has been obtained, the construction decision depends largely on the Bureau of Land Management that presently owns the proposed land area.

This solar project is anticipated to be located in an area spanning 6,000 acres while generating approximately 1,000 MW of electricity, the magnitude of which would be an equivalent of powering 80,000 homes, at least. This facility will be demonstrating as to how the renewable energy resources would go on towards powering the dreams of California State’s future. Currently, the laws in California persuade the investor-owned utilities in the state towards generating a minimum of 20% electricity through renewable sources.
