Wind Energy to Dominate Novel Power Installations in EU During Next Decade

The EC (European Commission) has published a new report on the EU (European Union) Energy Scenario. This report has been titled “EU energy trends to 2030” and predicts clearly that wind energy will be dominating the European energy scenario for the next decade during 2011 to 2020.

Wind energy would be accounting for approximately 136 GW capacity that would covert into 41% of all novel installations, the largest segment in any power technology. The EC is anticipating 64% of novel capacity to be clean, renewable energy, 3% oil, 4% nuclear, 12% coal and 17% gas.

This scenario calculates and suggests that wind energy would be producing 14% of the EU’s electricity by the year 2020. The current 80-GW of installed wind energy capacity produces 5% of the total electricity for EU. By 2020, wind energy would be playing a significant role in the electricity system of Europe.
