Spain Installs Additional Wind Power of 717 MW Capacity in 2010

Spain has already installed wind power of 717 MW capacity in 2010 so far. With this, the overall wind energy capacity of Spain has reached a phenomenally high 19,880 MW, thus meeting up 17% of Spain’s overall electricity needs.

The Spanish Wind Energy Association has predicted that by 2010 end, Spain’s overall wind power capacity is expected to grow up to 20,150 MW. However, the association has warned that considering reductions made to assist reduce public spending, the novel targets established by the novel national energy plan is not going to be easy to achieve.

The national energy plan for Spain foresees an additional 38,000 MW wind farm capacity to be established under the new legal framework. Considering the recent uncertainty that has characterized this sector, it is deemed essential for investors to be allowed to have long-term prospects so that all the future wind energy projects would be guaranteeing a reasonable profitability amount.
