The parent company of Mercedes which is Daimler AG is currently holding talks with Toyota towards the usage of the hybrid technology provided by the Japanese automaker. If this deal is struck, Toyota would be providing Daimler with technology, batteries and electric motors. Already, Toyota is providing hybrid technology for Ford, Mazda and Nissan.
If this deal between Toyota and Mercedes comes through, it would be helping Toyota towards cutting the production costs towards its hybrid vehicles by way of economies of scale.
This arrangement is slated to be forming a part of the larger partnership between these two German and Japanese auto-giants towards working together upon fuel-cell technology too.
