DOE Allots $5 Million Towards Wind Energy Projects

The U.S. DOE (Department of Energy) has allotted $5 million towards wind energy projects. Approximately $1.8 million would go towards the development of wind turbine production, while $3.4 million would go towards wind forecasting.

WindLogics would be provided with $1.2 million. This money would be used for collecting meteorological information on 14 plants through the Midwest area in co-ordination with the South Dakota State University and National Renewable Energy Laboratory.

Another $2.15 million would go towards AWS Truepower in co-ordination with Electricity Reliability Council of Texas. The rest among the latest round in grants of approximately $1.8 million would go towards developing the production of mid-sized wind turbines in the U.S.
