Long Beach Establishments Entitled for Water Preservation Project Grants

Long Beach schools and businesses have become eligible for receiving grants towards water conservation projects. The Long Beach Water Department will be funding almost half the cost of the proposed projects.

The Long Beach Board of Water Commissioners is the authority that has approved this new program for the fiscal year 2011 which will be providing funding for local schools as well as businesses for undertaking projects that have been designed for generating long-term savings in terms of water usage.

This program has been termed as “Proven Water Savings Program” and will be available for all CII (Commercial, Industrial & Institutional) customers as well as DI (Dedicated Irrigation) customers who are served by the Long Beach Water Department. Around 30% of the water that is used in Long Beach is sourced by the DI and CII customers.

This program will be encouraging these customers towards implementing water conservation projects which may not be feasible otherwise due to insufficiency in funding. Some of the DI and CII customers present in Long Beach are Memorial Medical Center, Long Beach Unified School District and CSULB.
