LS Power Awards Dover SUN Park Contract to SunPower

LS Power, declared that its subsidiary company White Oak Solar Energy LLC, has accomplished the project funding for its proposed 10 MW Dover SUN Park project coming up in Dover Delaware. The company has managed its financing through Union Bank N.A.

White Oak has entered into an accord with SunPower Corporation to formulate the design for the solar park, build and operate it and continue to manage its maintenance. At the project site, the proposed park will have SunPower Tracker systems and SunPower E19 solar panels. The Dover SUN Park happens to be the first utility level power producing facility in the Dover region. The company has entered into agreements with Delaware Sustainable Energy Utility, Delmarva Power and Light, City of Dover, and Delaware Municipal Electric Corporation for long term purchase of the total power produced from the solar farm and for other accords related to environmental attributes.

The company is currently working on the technology to be incorporated in the park to enable it to procure the solar power equipments required for the project. It is planning to commence the preparation of the proposed project site shortly. The company is projected to start its equipment installations from January 2011 and commence its commercial power production from the summer of 2011.
