enXco to Construct Solar Power Plant to Supply Customers of Portland General Electric Clean Renewable Energy

enXco an EDF Energies Nouvelles Company, that develops, builds and manages green energy projects, and Portland General Electric, an electric utility company in Portland region, have signed two power purchase accords to buy power produced from PV installations situated in Willamette Valle close to Salem Oregon.

Both the installations will produce a total of 2.85 MW power to extend electricity to 2,300 houses for peak time power consumption.

enXco will develop and construct the solar projects utilizing thin film solar technology and own them to sell power to PGE. Both the companies have entered into a 25 year power purchase accord. enXco is planning to commence the construction of the project during the first part of 2011 and to start its commercial production from July 2011. The company will continue to operate the solar plant and maintain it. The construction sites of the two projects are situated over the south eastern part of Yamhill County.

With the inclusion of two new projects PGE will have around 17 MW solar power in its power mix which will enable the company to meet the mandatory requirement of 25% of its total power generation from renewable energy sources by the year 2025. The company is planning to achieve 9% of its power production from renewable energy sources during the year 2010.

Troy Gagliano, enXco’s project developer expressed his happiness to work with PGE and Energy Trust of Oregon in completing the solar project. He added that solar energy generation will help the local farmers to broaden their land usage for solar power production for their future survival and prosperity.
