TRUenergy, an energy company, is to build the biggest solar power plant in Victoria, Australia.

Funding of AUD$100 million has been committed by the Victorian Government towards building this solar plant in Australia. This solar energy plant would come up in the location of Mildura, Victoria.

TRUenergy’s proposal towards this 180-MW capacity Mallee solar park will be creating 200 new jobs, while delivering 345 GWh of clean electricity, sufficient to power 60,000 homes annually. This giant solar photovoltaic plant is to be built on an area of 600 hectares by Bovis Lend Lease, a global construction major, in four phases ranging between the period of 2012 and 2015.

The Victorian government is planning to cut greenhouse gas emissions as well as carbon footprint to the extent of 20% by the year 2020. This investment aims at capitalizing upon Victoria’s potential towards generating renewable energy while forming a crucial part in the state’s commitment towards increasing the supply of electrical energy from large-scale solar energy to 5% by 2020.
