Suzlon Energy has entered into a contract with Techno Electric Group towards delivering wind power turbines in India.
Suzlon Energy, the largest wind turbine producer in India, has inked a deal worth $251 million towards delivering wind turbines for wind power projects with a capacity of 202.2 MW, overall.
Techno Electric Group, being committed on green energy, already has projects with 95 MW of wind power capacity in the Indian states of Karnataka and Tamil Nadu. The group plans for scaling up its overall wind power assets while signing a business contract with Suzlon Energy as the former’s preferred supplier towards developing a new capacity of 500 MW. This current 202.2-MW contract forms a part of this agreement and has become the single biggest contract in the wind energy business in India.
This contract consists of 24 units of S88 wind turbines of Suzlon Energy with 2.1-MW capacity each, 34 units of S82 wind turbines with 1.5-MW capacity each along with 48 units of S95 wind turbines with 2.1-MW capacity each. The first development phase will witness 101.4 MW capacities being commissioned by June 2011 in Tamil Nadu and an additional capacity of 100.8 MW is likely to be commissioned by 2011 December.
