New York School District Goes the Solar Way and Reduces Energy Costs

The Katonah-Lewisboro School District located in the area of Katonah, New York is utilizing solar energy as part of the school district’s initiative towards sustainability.

It is anticipated that the school district would be saving considerable amount of money on energy costs.

The John Jay school campus consists of a middle school as well as a high school and is turning towards the solar way with two solar installations with a capacity of 50 kW. Each one of these solar installations consists of 218 solar panels while helping the school district in slashing its annual energy expenses by $35,000.

Solar energy benefits go much beyond the cost savings in terms of educating students. These solar panels are getting installed by way of a grant of $500,000 received from the New York State Energy Research and Development Authority.
