Louis Dreyfus Proposes Wind Energy Project in Scotland

Louis Dreyfus & Cie, SA is proposing a wind energy project in Scotland. This project will be executed by European Forest Resources Group, a forestry and renewable energy company that is owned by Louis Dreyfus, a commodity trader, towards this £100 million ($158 million) wind energy project in the West Lothian region of Scotland.

This wind farm will have a 90-MW power generation capacity and will have its location at the Colzium Hill Farm in Fauch Hill. As this project involves power in excess of 50 MW capacity, the Scottish government needs to give its planning approval while the company is expected to submit its proposal next summer right after the consultation period. The planning consent will be taking two years and will be followed by a further two-year period towards building this project.

Louis Dreyfus is taking steps towards this direction since Scotland happens to be the premier environment towards renewable energy in Europe. European Forest Resources will be financing, constructing and managing the wind farm while the funding will be arranged by Louis Dreyfus. The wind farm will facilitate Scotland in reaching its target of 80% renewable energy from low-carbon sources by the year 2020.
