Enbridge Finishes Expansion of Sarnia Solar Energy Facility in Ontario

Enbridge Inc. has announced that the company has finished the expansion plans for its solar energy plant located in Sarnia, Ontario, towards creating the world’s largest PV (photovoltaic) solar farm. This site is enabled with a power generation output of 80 MW, an equivalent of powering an excess of 12,000 homes.

This solar facility consists of 1.3 million units of solar modules situated across an area of 943,000 sq. mt., in an effort that moves towards green energy. Over the past year, Enbridge has added to its list, four new projects in green energy.

First Solar will be operating this solar facility in southwestern Ontario on Enbridge’s behalf in the long-term. The Sarnia plant expansion involved an investment in excess of $400 million while also creating hundreds of jobs and simultaneously leading to cleaner energy futures. Enbridge is Canada’s largest distributor of natural gas while also being a major oil pipeline operator in North America.
