Spire Corporation Manufactures Globe’s Extremely Efficient Solar Cells

Spire Semiconductor LLC is Spire Corporation’s completely owned subsidiary and has produced CPV (concentrated photovoltaic) solar cells with a global record efficiency. A 0.97 sq. cm. cell measured by U.S. DoE’s NREL (National Renewable Energy Laboratory) was found to have a peak cell efficiency that measured 42.3 %.

Spire Corporation is extremely excited about the CPV cell efficiency reaching a record high. This high-efficiency cell’s availability will advance the performance of the next-generation CPVs while reducing the overall system costs incurred by the manufacturers, thus facilitating solar energy to move closer towards achieving grid parity.

NREL is the country’s primary laboratory for the development of energy efficiency research and renewable energy. NREL is operated by the Department of Energy. Spire Corporation happens to be a global leader in providing turnkey production lines and capital equipment for the manufacture of PV cells as well as modules for the solar industry.
