Solyndra Inc Collaborates with Photon Energy for Rooftop Project in Prague

Solyndra Inc, a company producing cylindrical photovoltaic (PV) modules for use over large sized commercial rooftops, has declared the signing of an engineering, procurement and construction (EPC) accord for a 1.23 MWp project with Photon Energy a.s, a fast growing solar company for installing rooftop solar modules over a number of roofs in Prague Czech Republic.

Novacento a.s an associate of Photon Energy has taken consent from building owners such as primary school and nursery school buildings to erect solar system over the roofs. On completion the project will become one of the biggest power production projects for the company in Eastern Europe.

The turnkey type of project will require Solyndra to install 18 rooftop systems over the roof tops of various municipal buildings possessed by the Prague city administration. The company has already commenced the installation of the panels and is looking forward to complete it by the end of 2010. The project with power production capability of more than 1 MWp by utilizing Solyndra panels will be the first of its kind project in Czech Republic. As a component of the project Photon Energy has accorded to offer Novacento a.s. 80% of the project cost as vendor financing. In turn Novacento will seek long-term project funding from the U.S. Export Import bank after completion of the installation and linking of the system in the last part of the year 2010.

Michal Gärtner, Photo Energy’s CEO said that the partnership with Solyndra a company with established and reliable technology helped his company to finish the planning procedures in time. He added that the non-penetrating rooftop installation technology utilized by Solyndra perfectly matched with the construction of buildings included in the project.
