Magnolia Solar Corporation, a nanotechnology based thin solar film producing company, declared that one of its fully owned auxiliary company has got finance from New York State Energy Research and Development Authority (NYSERDA).
The funding is provided for the sustained efforts of the company in introducing nano-integrated thin film solar cells with high competence. The current funding is received for the second phase of the three phase program valued around one million dollar.
The company has received funding for the Phase II of the program after accomplishing significant progress in the growth of nanostructure founded thin film solar cells in Phase I. In the research process of phase I, the company displayed advanced changeable type of anti-reflective coatings over glass substrates for the use of solar cells and the maturation of nano-structured absorbent substances to attract a large range of solar power for the development of solar cells with high competence. In the proposed Phase II of the program, the company will continue with the results of its Phase I research to improve the engineering of the exclusive type of solar cells. The company has opened up a branch at the Albany Nanotech building complex located over the campus of University of Albany to team up with the staff members of Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute (RPI) and the College of Nanoscale Science and Engineering (CNSE) and to utilize the facilities available at the campus.
Dr. Ashok K. Sood, Magnolia Solar Corporation’s President and CEO, has expressed his happiness to coordinate directly with NYSERDA and staff members of the University. He stressed that the achieving of results in Phase II is important and added that his company is taking advantage of the Albany Nanotech Center’s infrastructure to achieve the ultimate results and to provide eco-friendly, cost-effective solutions for solar power generation.
