Oerlikon Solar, a leading provider of thin film silicon photovoltaic manufacturing machineries, declared that it has received a patron order from Hunan China based Gongchuang Photovoltaic Science & Technology Co. Ltd.
The company based at Hengyang City in China has placed an order for the Oerlikon Solar’s FAB 1200 model 40 MW Micromorph® turnkey manufacturing line. The company said that the production line with a capability to produce 330,000 solar modules per year will be available in large quantities by the end of the year 2011.
The FAB 1200 production line ordered by Gongchuang has received an award from VLSI Research Inc in 2009. The ThinFab manufacturing line was launched by Oerlikon Solar at Valencia in the 25th European Photovoltaic Solar Energy Conference and Exhibition. The FAB 1200 offered with easy to upgrade packages to provide improved performance, increased output and augmented efficiencies is expected to benefit clients such as Gongchuang.
Both the companies had signed the contract in the Sino-Swiss conference held at Beijing celebrating the occasion of completing 60 years of business links between Switzerland and China and the contract has taken effect now. Dr. Juerg Henz, Oerlikon Solar’s CEO called the order from Gongchuang encouraging as it coincides with the launch of ThinFab. He added that the order shows that the thin film silicon technology of the company is viewed as a right sustainable solution for the solar photovoltaic manufacturing.
