Kalahari Greentech disclosed a statement outlining the advantages of using Nanofluid additives for the Tri-Brid Solar Generator.
Nanofluid boosts the solar thermal efficiency by 10%, eliminating the need for redesigning. Innovative manufacturing methods are used for 30 nm graphite spheres to make this technology viable cost-effectively to be used in Kalahari’s products. Nanofluids have been used as a direct absorption solar collector, to display its unique benefits, when compared to the other collectors.
Preliminary dialogues are on between research organizations and Kalahari officials for future research work and licensing of the future versions of nanofluid formulations with improved efficiency advantages. Based on the research results, a choice of materials would be done. The potential market for the Tri-Brid system is rated at $12 billion, for around 2 million homes. With the onset of production by early 2012, Kalahari would probably be able to manufacture around 3000 units by 2012 December, with an expected sales figure of $18,000,000.
The tendency to lean towards renewable sources of energy is gathering momentum, with renewables dominating almost 60 % of the newly built European installations and 50 % in the U.S. China is estimated to increase its solar power generation target by around 10000 MW for 2020, thus opening a potential market of over 2.5 million consumers, counting China and India in the list for the Tri-Brid generators.
