SolarCity Recognized as Green Power Supplier of the Year by DOE

SolarCity, a pioneer in the field of solar, energy efficiency finance and other related services, revealed that it has been named the Green Power Supplier of the year by the Department of Energy (DOE) in the non-utility category.

SolarCity has supported renewable energy growth by making solar and energy efficiency accessible and affordable to the public. The company has around 9000 solar projects that are either in progress or over and done with, in states such as Texas, Oregon, Colorado, California and Arizona. It has facilitated the increased usage of clean power in schools, homes, businesses and government agencies, by conducting solar community programs, solar leasing and incorporating energy efficiency and solar services.

According to Lyndon Rive, the CEO of SolarCity, a crucial role was essayed by the US Department of Energy, in inspiring the growth of clean power use in the nation. He stated that SolarCity appreciates these efforts, and was also honored and humbled by this recognition, as they had only skimmed the outer layers, and to rid the dependence on fossil fuels.

The DOE award evaluates the working and operation of organizations, individuals and companies that aid in the advancement of renewable electricity sources, via green power markets. The 2010 Green Power Leadership awards are sponsored by three agencies, the DOE, the EPA (Environmental Protection Agency) and the CRS (Centre for Resource Solutions), and are planning to bestow the awards at a banquet in Portland, Ore, along with Renewable Energy Markets.
