Pattern Energy Group, a completely integrated power company constructing, developing and operating green power and transmission properties in the US, Latin America and Canada, has declared the construction on Hatchet Ridge Wind project, situated on a part of the Hatchet Mountain close to Burney town in Shasta County, California, is over and it is ready for production.
The project, which has a capacity of 101.2 MW, will generate power to meet the demands of about 44,000 houses in California. The company has opened the facility officially on October 27, 2010. The Fruit Growers Supply Company and Sierra Pacific Industries are the owners of the site.
RES America Construction, Inc. built the structures bearing the SWT-2.3-93 wind turbines erected by Siemens Energy. The project consists of 44 such turbines with each having a production capacity of 2.3 MW. Siemens produced the turbine blades at its plant located in Fort Madison, Iowa and Fontana, California-based Ameron International produced the turbine towers. Pattern Energy Group has signed a purchase contract with Pacific Gas and Electric Company to supply energy for 15 years.
Hatchet Ridge Wind project will employ 10 people for the maintenance and operations of the facility. The project is spending $5 million for the local community through the funds garnered by the Shasta Regional Community Foundation such as Burney Regional Community Fund, the Shasta County General Fund, and the Burney-Fall River Education Foundation.
