Renewable Biomass Crop from VIASPACE to Generate Clean Power

VIASPACE is a CA-based clean energy company that grows Giant King, a patented renewable biomass crop, with low carbon features. Recently the name of the company appeared in two leading news papers such as the Shenzhen Special Zone Daily and The Shenzhen Economic Daily published in China.

The Shenzhen Special Zone Daily published a write up titled, ‘Using Giant King Grass to Generate Electricity is 1/4th the Cost of Solar,’ along with a photograph of Dr. Carl Kukkonen, Chief Executive of the company and the Giant King Grass cultivated by it. According to the details presented in the article the Giant King Grass can substitute the use of coal. The cost of generating electric power utilizing the grass is estimated to be just one-fourth  of the costs of solar and half the cost of wind power generation and the cost works out to be considerably lower than the cost of utilizing crude oil and natural gas. The article highlighted that growing of Giant King Grass in 80 million hectors of land can substitute the requirement of coal all over the world.

The Shenzhen Economic Daily, a news paper that concentrates on economic reporting, wrote the details on Carl Kukkonen’s Giant King Grass presentation to the experts of the energy industry and the benefits of the grass. The report also mentioned details about growing of the special grass by the company in the Guangdong Province, China.
