Amonix Starts Construction of Solar Power Systems Plant in Nevada

Amonix, which designs and produces concentrated photovoltaic (CPV) solar energy systems, has started construction of a 214,000-square-foot plant located on North Pecos Road in North Las Vegas, Nevada. The plant will create 278 clean energy jobs in the Southern Nevada region. The Nevada Development Authority said that in the first five-year term, the project would pay $12 million in taxes and $118 million in salary to the local economy.

Amonix has secured $5.8 million in competitive manufacturing tax credit as per the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act. The company has started recruiting local people for technical, manufacturing and corporate jobs and nearly 135 construction employees will be used to construct the plant. The electrical power resource for the new facility is an Amonix 7700 solar power system installed by the company. The plant’s construction procedure is complying with the certification of LEED for Commercial Interiors (LEED CI) Rating System of the US Green Building Council.

Amonix’s new facility will be used for the production of CPV solar power systems to meet the demands of the Nevada market and for  export to the surrounding states. The full capacity of the facility will be 150MWs per year when it runs for the whole year. The production at the first line in the first phase of the plant will commence by the end of the first quarter of 2011.
