SDG + E to Receive 130 MW Solar Power from CSolar

San Diego Gas and Electric, an electric utility company located in San Diego, California, declared that it has contracted a 25 year power purchase agreement with an auxiliary company of CSolar Development, a clean energy company administered by Tenaska Solar Ventures.

The signed accord will enable SDG & E to receive 130 MW of clean energy produced by CSolar from its proposed solar photovoltaic power producing facility to come up in Imperial County, California. The project planned over a 900 acre site and called as Imperial Solar Energy Center South is anticipated to be completed  in 2014 will bring over 250 new construction jobs. James P. Avery, SDG & E’s Senior Vice President of Power Supply, said that the new contract shows the commitment of his company in procuring renewable energy sources to power Imperial Valley. He added that the power clients in San Diego area will get the renewable energy supply through the Sunrise Powerlink owned by the company.

Dave Fiorelli, Tenaska’s Development Group’s President, said that his company is looking forward to work along with SDG & E in more clean energy projects in the state of California.
