Atomenergomash to Enter Wind and Solar Power Generation

Atomenergomash, an associate of Russia-based Rosatom nuclear corporation, has declared its intentions to manufacture wind power generators by 2012 in collaboration with an internationally renowned technical partner.

Announcing the details, Vladimir Kashchenko, CEO of the company, said that his company aims to become a world known producer in the wind power market with a considerable stake in both Russian and overseas wind market by 2020.

Kashchenko detailed the plans of the company to manufacture wind turbines and also get engaged in the development of wind farms. He added that around nine locations in Russia have shown interest in the project. He elaborated the continuing dialogues between his company and Rosenergoatom, a government owned company, on the building of wind farms of 50 to 100 MW range in close proximity to the nuclear plants owned by the government company. Kashchenko said that the proposed wind farms will help in augmenting the power production capabilities of the nuclear plants. He added that his company wanted to finalize the choice of the technology partner during the first or second quarter of 2011.

Kashchenko, also has unveiled the intention of the company to enter into the solar energy market and in the production of electric power from timber wastes after consolidating its position in wind energy market. The company currently has plans to enter the wind energy markets of Asia, Middle East and Eastern Europe.
