Solar Components to Receive Best of Innovations Award

Solar Components, a Californian company producing solar chargers, declared that the 2011 International CES has chosen Solar Components’ JOOS Orange Personal Solar Charger as the ‘Best of Innovations award’ winner in the category named Eco-Design and Sustainable Technology Products.

The Consumer Electronics Association (CEA) has stated that the JOOS Orange had received the maximum score routing all the other products that had been nominated for the award.

According to Jamie Bullen, Solar Components’ CEO, the company was delighted to have won such an award and wanted to convey their gratitude to the CEA for the honor. He felt that this award should be credited to their engineering and design team.

The JOOS Orange with dimensions of 5.8 x 8.6 x 0.8 inches and a weight of 24 ounces is a highly potent personal solar charger, converting sunlight into electricity in the rain; under water; in the shade; in sunlight; even under firing by a .22 caliber rifle; and in cloudy conditions. It provides around 2.5 hours of talk time per hour of sunlight, thus proving to be much more efficient than other solar chargers. Furthermore, the 20 watt hour capacity Lithium ion polymer battery inside the Orange contains sufficient power to completely charge four or more smart phones.

Bullen reveals that the initial sales of the Orange Charger have commenced and that full production would be achieved by January 2011. This personal solar charger would be showcased in booth 1035J in the North Hall, Las Vegas Convention Center at the 2011 International CES trade show, to be held between January 6th and January 9th, 2011.
