DRI Energy Installs Solar Arrays for City of Hesperia Police Department

The newly constructed City of Hesperia Police Department, located in Hesperia, California, will now sport a 216 kW DC solar system installed by DRI Energy. The solar system is erected over a modular racking system constructed utilizing structural steel structure designed by DRI Energy. It is designed to withstand harsh weather and wind conditions of the state.

Recently, the police department moved over to the new building which is constructed utilizing energy efficient features and is aiming to achieve Gold LEED standards. The department utilized the funding of ARRA under the Buy America Act to install the solar arrays. The solar system installed over the carport and the roof is anticipated to generate over 336,000 kW of solar power every year and will help the police department to save over 75% of its energy spending every year. DRI Energy utilized the services of Griffin Structures to manage the activities of the project while McCarthy Building Companies, a local company, offered the construction management.

Steve Kelley, DRI Energy’s Executive Vice President, said that the use of renewable energy facilitates the state government departments to regulate their energy costs and save on them. He added that the extra savings made by the City of Hesperia will allow it to implement more community-related facilities.
