NV Energy Completes Renewable Energy Project in Southern Nevada

Kern River Gas Transmission Company, Ormat Technologies and NV Energy have completed the construction of Goodsprings Energy Recovery Station. The facility is the first non-solar renewable energy project in southern Nevada, USA. Ormat served as procurement, engineering and construction contractor in the project.

The facility is situated 35 miles of south Las Vegas and marks the first renewable energy project for NV Energy. The project, which is rated at 7.5 MW, is sufficient to provide power to nearly 4,500 Nevada’s homes.

NV Energy collaborated with Ormat Nevada and Kern River Gas Transmission Company to construct the station. Ormat is a subsidiary of Ormat Technologies, while Kern River is a division of MidAmerican Energy Holdings Company.

Yoram Bronicki, President and Chief Operating Officer at Ormat Technologies, stated that the company is happy to collaborate with NV Energy to build the energy production plant in Nevada. The project will contribute to the state’s renewable energy economy, Bronicki said.

Gary Hoogeveen, President of Kern River Gas Transmission Company, stated that the company continuously strives to support projects that help boost energy efficiency and reduce greenhouse gas emissions. Hoogeveen added that the company is pleased to partner with Ormat and NV Energy to convert the compressor heat into energy, which will be used by NV Energy's clients.
