Southern California Edison has declared the commissioning of a new solar power plant built over a 436,000-square-foot construction owned by an associate company of AMB Property Corporation in Rialto, California.
The company said that the power produced from the facility will be supplied to clients located in Inland Empire. The power generated from the installation of 16,300 solar panels erected over the Rialto warehouse is linked directly to the local power circuit of the utility for supply to its other clients.
According to Alan Fohrer, chairman and CEO of the company, the project is one among the other investments the company has planned for the production of clean energy and installing of smart grid technologies to meet the growing energy needs of its clients. The company has finished comparable type of solar installations in Chino and Fontana in the last two years. All the three plants have a total peak power producing capability of 4 million W, which can utilized to supply power to nearly 2,600 average homes. The company has plans to construct 10 more solar plants in Ontario area and is anticipated to commission them by the year end.
The company has unveiled its plans to erect over 250 million W of solar power generating plants in over 100 sites located in Southern and Central California in the next four years. The utility wanted to enter into power purchase agreements with individual solar power produces to develop same amount of solar power generation. The solar program unveiled by the company is anticipated to create over 1,200 full time job positions every year.
