Polaris Energy, a private equity firm based in Luxembourg, announced that it has launched a photovoltaic solar energy project, which will be constructed in the southern region of Italy.
After the project is completed, it will generate 3 MWh of electricity each year, fulfilling the energy needs of many homes as well as offering an attractive clean energy investment. The project is expected to be completed in 2011.
At present, Italy is the world’s second largest provider of electricity generated from photovoltaic. This is mainly because of the high Feed-in Tariff rate set by the Italian government. The Tariff rate is causing a surge in the clean technology investment, while making the financial institutions more interested in funding green energy projects.
Through the new project, Polaris Energy has created the framework to encourage participation of individual investors in the photovoltaic market in Italy. The company is now accepting inquiries from investors. It has assigned a Swiss banking solution to make sure the investments of the clients are safe.
