Construction of Yardville Solar Farm in Progress

Public Service Electric and Gas Company (PSE and G), the gas and electric utility company from New Jersey, commemorated the first stage of its 4.4 MW Yardville solar farm construction at South Broad St. in Hamilton Township, N.J.

The Yardville solar farm forms a part of the company’s Solar 4 All agenda to construct 80 MW solar farm with an investment of around $515 million.

The 4.4 MW Yardville Solar Farm is one among the four ground-located solar farms developed by the company under its Solar 4 All program. The solar farm comprises 15,750 solar panels erected over an area of 15.75 acres. The power generated from the solar panels will be directly fed into the grid of PSE and G to benefit around 720 average homes served by the power utility. American Capital Energy, a known solar energy projects developing company in the state is developing the Hamilton Township solar project under the supervision of the company.

The Solar 4 All proposal of the company was approved by the state regulators in July 2009. In the first stage of the program the company is planning to install 40 MWs of pole fixed small sized solar units in the locations served by the utility company and connect them to the distribution system of the company. The company is planning to share the sale of power and capacity, federal tax investment credits and the money made out of the solar environmental credits (SRECs) with its clients to cut down the total price of the program.
