Bahrain Goes Green with Plan for a Wind Power Plant

National Oil and Gas Authority of Bahrain announced that a wind energy plant will be built in the country to generate electricity. A Japanese company has tested the wind velocity of Bahrain and will present the evaluation report shortly.

Based on the test results, the government of Bahrain will decide the type of plant to be constructed. The government has also assigned the America-based solar company, Petrosolar, to evaluate the solar energy potential of Bahrain. Initially, two clean energy plants, to generate wind as well as solar energy, will be developed for about US$8 million. These experimental plants will produce 5 MW of electricity each.
