New Joint Venture to Develop 500 MW of Renewable Energy Projects in India

NTPC, Kyuden International and Asian Development Bank have signed an agreement to form a joint venture firm, which will develop renewable energy projects of about 500 MW of total capacity. The clean technology projects will be established in India over three years of time.

NTPC will contribute 50% of the equity share capital for the joint venture, while Asian Development Bank and Kyuden International will contribute 25% each.

At present, the JVC will develop hydroelectric and wind power projects for the joint venture. The JVC is likely to develop other green energy projects in the future. The company may also develop renewable energy projects outside India, however, only in Developing Member Countries.
