Germany has donated nearly $4 million to support Morocco’s Solar Energy Project. Germany’s Foreign Minister, Guido Westerwelle, made the announcement about the $4 million donation and stated that renewable energy sources were vital for better energy practices in North Africa and Europe.
The German embassy, located in the city of Rabat, commented that the donation is a commitment of the country to finance the Solar Energy project of Morocco. Westerwelle, who wished Rabat, acknowledged Morocco for its commitment and the steps taken by the country for sustainable development. Westerwelle added that Morocco would become a leader in the solar energy market.
The donation will be utilized for developing a regional industrial unity and for executing a scientific research strategy that would allow Morocco’s economy to gain from vital technological innovations.
European Union’s Italian-British energy consultant, Jonathon Rimpone, remarked that Morocco is likely to become a key leader in the energy sector. He added that the solar energy project requires donors because a project of this size cannot be successful without any assistance.
