Martifer Solar, an auxiliary company of Martifer SGPS, declared that it has begun the building of two new solar PV plants generating around 3.1 MW power in Northern Italy.
The first plant with a power production capability of 1 MW will be located in the province of Cremona and will provide enough power to meet the requirements of 300 families each with four family members. The fixed type of solar system installed over an area of over 25,000 square meters is capable of generating enough clean energy to offset nearly 636 tons of carbon dioxide emissions every year.
The second turnkey type of project with a power production capability of 2.08 MW in Alessandria will also use fixed type of solar structures. The plant spread over 40,000 square meter area will generate enough power to supply electricity to 600 families with four members. The electricity generated from the systems can be equated to offsetting of nearly 1,256 tons of carbon dioxide emissions every year. The second project is conceived over an accord with Sunflower Italia, an auxiliary company of Sunflower, an investment company from Israel. The constructions of both the solar power plants have begun in October and are anticipated to end before the end of 2010.
Pedro Pereira, Martifer Solar Italy’s Managing Director, expressed happiness with the progress of the Alessandria and Cremona projects, which will help the company to increase its solar power installations in Italy. He added that the Cremona project has allowed the company to add agricultural grouping in its client’s portfolio, which was composed of only industrial and financial clients.
